Program Overview

Accreditation

The Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Program is accredited by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), which follows the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) standards to ensure quality and competency in certification programs.

Course Details

  • Duration: 8 weeks
  • Class Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM
  • Clinical Externship: Students will complete a required clinical rotation, including a minimum of 30 venipunctures in accordance with NHA guidelines.

Hybrid Learning: In-person classes are supplemented with asynchronous online coursework to provide flexibility while maintaining structured deadlines.

Attendance Policy

Due to the short length of the program, attendance is strictly monitored:

  • Students are allowed a maximum of three unexcused absences.
  • Exceeding three unexcused absences will result in automatic withdrawal from the course.

Excused absences require a doctor’s note and will not count toward the limit.

Important Dates & Deadlines

  • Application Due: March 21, 2025
  • Selection: March 24, 2025
  • Acceptance Notifications Sent: March 26, 2025
  • Mandatory Onboarding & Lunch Meeting: April 16, 2025 (Payment due at this time)

In-Person Classes Begin: May 6, 2025

Health & Immunization Requirements

All students must provide proof of the following vaccinations before participating in direct patient care:
✔ Hepatitis B series or positive titer
✔ Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) or positive titer series
✔ Tetanus (Tdap or Td) within the last 10 years
✔ Tuberculosis skin test (PPD/Tuberculin) within the past 12 months
✔ Varicella (chickenpox) or positive varicella titer

Failure to submit the required vaccinations before the clinical portion will result in withdrawal from the course without a refund.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply, candidates must:
Be at least 18 years old by the time of program completion.
Hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Submit one professional letter of recommendation (must be sealed and signed by an employer, instructor, or supervisor).

How to Apply

  1. Complete the Application – Pick up an application at Artesia General Hospital HR Department (702 N 13th St., next to Green Chile Café).
  2. Submit Required Documents – Include a sealed recommendation letter and return all documents by March 21, 2025.
  3. Background Check & Drug Screening – All accepted students must pass these checks before participating in clinical training.
  4. Attend Mandatory Orientation – Accepted students must attend the luncheon and onboarding session on April 16, 2025 at the Green Chile Café.
